What The Funk Is This Blog About?

You may well be thinking "What the hell is this all about?".  To be perfectly honest and short with my answer, this blog is a kind of tribute to the many wonderful and not so wonderful musical artists I've listened to throughout my hearing years.  People don't realise the beauty and importance of something until its gone.  I was a music addict with an eclectic taste.  I was always in my local record stores checking out new releases and new artists to update my music collection, my peers were envious of my stash and if anyone wanted to know 'who sung what?', I'd be the one they'd ask.

For almost 20 years I've suffered from tinnitus (which I believe was caused by listening to music too loudly on my earphones) and with that came deafness.  Next to being unable to communicate with my family, peers and loved ones unless I read their lips and my inability to use a phone, not being able to listen to music properly is the worst thing ever.  Music means a great deal to me, it's a healer, an innovator and a great friend. This blog, I MISS MUSIC, formerly known as MUSIC TO DEAF EARS is kind of a tribute and a fond farewell to a whole wide collection of music that has touched, inspired and comforted me over the 37 years of my life, as well as tunes I've just had a good boogie down to.

I'm aiming to add at least one song review every day and my thoughts on current releases that I struggle to hear. Music may not be clear in my ears but it will never leave my mind or my soul. I'm also writing this blog for my children, who like me, love and appreciate music. I'm unable to fully share their tastes but I want them to be able to share the joy of mine and if that day should come, that I become fully deaf, I want to be able to look on this blog, along with my vinyl, cassette and cd collection with fond memories.

Please feel free to add comments or jerk my memory with any tunes that may have slipped my mind.
